Minister Ale pledges to make Nepal's airports worth seeing

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale has said that the airports in Nepal will be made worth seeing and comfortable for travelers.

He said that the departure hall of the internal terminal building of Tribhuvan International Airport will be expanded, while inaugurating baggage belt today and laying of foundation stone of the terminal building and program of newly constructed water fountain as per the boutique concept inside the airport Gauchar with an expectation that it will further develop and expand Nepal's airports to attract internal and external tourists.

 He said, "Thousands of tourists and passengers pass through the airport. What will happen if those airports become dirty? I will make all the airports in Nepal more attractive and tourist-friendly by developing and expanding them."

 Minister Ale said that he would be engrossed in the welfare of the country including the citizens as he is a servant of the people. He also instructed the staff to facilitate the passengers to carry their luggage within five minutes and not have to wait for luggage.

 Minister Ale urged the company that has won the contract to construct the terminal building within a year to create a conducive working environment within nine months. He also urged for the construction of physical infrastructure inside the Tribhuvan International Airport and its proper sanitation.

 Minister Ale also laid the foundation stone of the inbound arrival terminal building at Tribhuvan International Airport today. With the increase in the number of domestic passengers, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) is constructing a new arrival terminal building for domestic passengers at Tribhuvan International Airport.

 Hari Adhikari, chief of the civil engineering branch of the Tribhuvan International Airport, said that the building would be constructed at a total cost of Rs.5 crores.

 Bright Multi Construction has taken charge of the construction of the building. Passengers are expected to be comfortable after the construction of the building. A new arrival terminal building will be constructed in the taxi parking lot in the interior area while the existing terminal building will be developed only in the departure building.

 The new terminal hall will be 41 meters long and 24 meters wide and will have a 35 meter long baggage conveyor belt.

 On another occasion, Minister Ale expressed dissatisfaction over the allocation of only Rs. 260 million for the construction of Nijgadh International Airport. He also complained that the budget was not enough as the construction of the airport was estimated at Rs. 120 billion.

 In the same context, Minister Ale accused the judiciary of interfering in the construction of Nijgadh International Airport.
