Govt’s 100-day period satisfactory: Ruling coalition

The ruling parties have issued a joint statement following a meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar on Friday.

The statement addresses the government’s first 100 days, current issues, and upcoming plans.

The current government operates with the support and participation of various parties, including Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, Janata amajwadi Party (JSP), Janamat, JSP Nepal, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party, and Nagarik Unmukti Party, based on a seven-point agreement between Nepali Congress and CPN-UML.

Ruling coalition voices objection to “influence” in Rabi Lamichhane investigation

The seven ruling parties have raised serious objections to the recent protests organized by the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) regarding the arrest of RSP Chairman Rabi Lamichhane.

In a joint statement issued on Friday, the coalition—including the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML—expressed concerns about attempts to sway the ongoing investigation into Lamichhane’s case.

The parties emphasized that since an investigation is underway based on the unanimous report from the Parliamentary Special Committee of Inquiry into the Misappropriation of Cooperative Society Savings, 2081, it is crucial that no outside influences disrupt this process.

NC President Deuba praises govt's 100-day performance

Sher Bahadur Deuba, President of the Nepali Congress (NC) and former Prime Minister has voiced his approval of the government’s achievements during its first 100 days.

Deuba emphasized that there are no reasons for dissatisfaction with the work done by the government under the leadership of CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli.

In a conversation with News Agency Nepal, he remarked that the government has made effective use of its initial "honeymoon period."

He addressed misunderstandings regarding the government’s disaster management efforts, highlighting the deployment of security personnel for relief and rescue missions.

PM Oli Calls for Unified Action Against Dengue

Prime Minister KP Oli has urged all sectors of society to join forces in the fight against dengue. In a video message released today, he highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts as the disease affects multiple districts throughout the country.

The Prime Minister emphasized the need for active participation from various entities, including relevant agencies, civil servants, security forces, educational institutions, social activists, and local communities in a nationwide "Search and Destroy" campaign set to take place every Friday at 10:00 a.m.

Finance Minister Poudel Encourages Confident Investment in Nepal

Minister of Finance Bishnu Poudel has called on international investors to confidently invest in Nepal's information technology (IT) sector, noting its significant potential for high returns.

Speaking at an interaction event organized by the American Chamber of Commerce and Industries, he also encouraged investments in Nepal's physical infrastructure, tourism, agriculture, energy, and other sectors to reap the benefits.

DPM Poudel Meets with MCC CEO

Minister for Finance Bishnu Prasad Poudel met with Alice P. Albright, the Chief Executive Officer of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), in Washington DC, USA.

The Embassy of Nepal in Washington DC reported that the discussions focused on the MCC projects in Nepal, which are being executed under the MCC Compact Agreement initiated last year, as well as the cross-border transmission line.

Power Cuts Affect 34 Industries Amid NEA Line Disputes

Kulman Ghising, Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), has disconnected power to 34 industries due to ongoing disputes over dedicated and trunk line usage.

Industrialists claim they are unable to pay their outstanding bills, asserting that while the NEA issued these bills, it has not provided proof of the electricity consumed.

During a recent board meeting, Energy Minister Deepak Khadka intervened, instructing that electricity supply to these industries should not be cut off immediately.
