Women's rights have been guaranteed: PM Deuba

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has stated that women's rights have been ensured in all the bodies, levels, and structures of the state. Releasing a book titled 'Nepalese Dreams Unfulfilled' (literal & unofficial translation of actual book name, "Nepali ka Sapana Adhurai") written by Nepali Congress central member Dr. Dilla Sangraula today, he said that Nepal is a special country in giving reservation rights to women.

He mentioned that women are leading the posts of president, speaker, deputy speaker, chief and deputy chief from village to municipality levels. "Nepal is the only country where women have been given 33 percent rights in every field. There is reservation for women in every state body. Our party (Nepali Congress) has also given 33 percent reservation to women. Yes, women have already led the posts of President, Speaker and Deputy Speaker, so we have given reservation to women in many places, ”said Prime Minister Deuba.

Prime Minister Deuba, who is also the President of the Nepali Congress, said that the government and political parties are also serious about the issue of women's rights and participation. Giving the example that Nepal is a country of proportional representation, he promised inclusive proportional representation by giving reservation to Dalit, Adivasi and Janajati backward areas.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Deuba said that Sangraula was a very hard working person and was fighting for the rights of women.

 Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Amar Raj Joshi, Vice-Chancellor of Far Western University, said that the book titled "Nepalese Dreams Unfulfilled" portrayed the environment of a changed and conscious society. He said that the book, which was a documentary of the past political developments and events, presented the issues of social security, development, good governance and how to strengthen democratic practices in a smooth manner.

Reviewing the book, Dr. Loknath Dulal, an associate professor at Tribhuvan University, said that the book documented the events and wrongdoings of the then political transition. The author of the book, Dr. Dilla Sangraula, informed that the book has been published by compiling the essays published in various periodicals and online by depicting various aspects of the past.

The book contains 148 articles written in various periodicals. The 515-page book, divided into six sections, is priced at Rs 250.
