A public holiday has been announced across the Bheriganga Municipality municipality in mourning the death of Ward Chairman of Bheriganga Municipality-1, Surkhet Nawaraj Karki. Karki died in a road accident.
The municipality has issued a condolence statement while announcing the holiday to all government offices in the municipality including the ward office today. Ward Chairman Karki died on Friday night while undergoing treatment at Bansbari Neuro Hospital in Kathmandu.
He was coming from the ward office to attend a meeting of the municipality when his motorcycle (Bhe 6 Pa 4401) was hit by a vehicle (Karnali Pradesh 02001 Kha 0546) coming from Nepalgunj to Surkhet.
The 30-year-old ward chair was elected representing the CPN (Maoist Center) in the local level election of 2074 BS. Born in 2048 BS, he was known as the youngest ward chair of the Surkhet district.
