Bagmati Province gets medical assistance worth Rs 170m

Bagmati Province Chief Minister Dormani Poudel has highlighted the combined efforts to fight back against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Receiving medical assistance by the INGO named ‘Back to Life’ amidst a programme here today, the Chief Minister said the containment of COVID-19 was the first priority of the government. Claiming that the pandemic was on the course of containment, he said he was happy for those organisations, individuals and medical workforce working for the lives of others by putting own life at risk.

The medical assistance worth Rs 170 million includes crucial medical supplies including 18 oxygen-generating devices, two high-frequency mobile X-ray machines, 60 pulse oximeters, five syringe pumps, five infusion pumps, 6,000 KN-95 masks, 100,000 surgical masks, 2,700 face shields, 1100 PPEs, 30 monitors and10 electrocardiograms.

On the occasion, Social Development Minister Saraswoti Basnet said the government was aware of the potential shortage of medical supplies and human resources to deal with the pandemic and was working accordingly. Organisation’s Nepal programme director Dikendra Lal Dhakal handed the assistance materials to the Chief Minister. The Germany-based organisation has been working for the sectors of health, health, and community development in Nepal since 2009. Now its areas of working are Chitwan, Nuwakot in Bagmati Province, and Mugu in Karnali Province.
