3,032 new COVID cases reported on Sunday

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Sunday reported 3,032 new cases of coronavirus infection in Nepal. The addition of new cases has taken the country's COVID-19 tally to 300,119. Additionally, 90 persons have tested positive for the virus in the Antigen test conducted in the past 24 hours.

Likewise, the three districts of Kathmandu valley have reported 1,498 new cases of coronavirus infection — 1,132 in Kathmandu, 270 in Lalitpur and 96 in Bhaktapur — in the past 24 hours. A total of 921 males and 577 females have been reported to be infected by the coronavirus in the valley in the past 24 hours.

As many as 450 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. With this, a total of 277,573 persons infected with coronavirus in the country have recovered as of Sunday. At present, the recovery rate stands at 92.5 per cent as per the data released by the MoHP.

The nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 3,164 with the report of 28 more deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. Presently, there are 19,382 active cases in Nepal.

Earlier, the MoHP on Saturday had reported 2,486 cases of coronavirus that had taken the nationwide tally to 297,087.

As of Sunday, a total of 2,405,017 persons have undergone the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 19,382 persons staying in isolation while 69 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.

More than 145.83 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus worldwide while at least 3,229,474 people have died from COVID-19, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December, a tally showed as of 9:00 am, on Sunday, April 25, 2021.

The World Health Organisation referred to it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
