Bishwanath Regmi, 74, of Baglung Municipality-3 had to wait in line in the Dhaulagiri Zonal Hospital. He complained that even though the senior citizens were told that why would not have to wait in lines at the hospital, they were forced to. That is only one example. Regmi also stated that no one had implemented the provision of 50 percent discount while traveling in public vehicles.

Senior citizens who participated in an interaction program organized by the National Human Rights Commission in Baglung complained that they felt humiliated. They said that they had not been able to get the insurance for the health treatment in the public health posts and that the municipality did not provide the senior citizens their allowance either.

"So far, I have not been able to get a discount when using public transportation or get medical treatment despite being a senior citizen," said Regmi.

During the discussion on the policies, the plans, the programs and the budget of the local government regarding senior citizens, the participants had raised their grievances.

Kalpana Nepal, Head of the Senior Citizens' Department, Sharmila Thapa, Treasurer of the Human Rights Organization, Ramesh Dhakal, Chief District Officer, Dayanidhi Gyawali, Superintendent of Police, Ram Prasad Khanal, Head of Baglung Municipal Health Branch, Saraswati Devi Regmi, Head of Women and Children Branch, and Muktiram Sapkotal, President of NGO District Branch, informed that assistance had been provided for the senior citizens, assistance in treatment and free ambulance. They also said that action should be taken if there was any obstruction in the legal services.
