The closed-door session under the ongoing 8th national general convention of CPN (Maoist Centre) has been postponed till 5 pm today.

The postponement was made to determine the central committee members in the wake of submission of political report by the party chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal, and endorsement of draft statute presented by standing committee member Dev Prasad Gurung.

According to Karnali Province Committee Chairperson Bimala KC, the close-session of the general convention was postponed to forge consensus for the central committee members. The Standing Committee's meeting is currently being held at Academy Hall.

Preparation is underway to determine central committee by today itself. As per the party's statute, the central committee will have 299 members elected from mixed electoral system where 50 percent candidates will be elected through open category while rest 50 will be elected from proportional category.

The general convention will elect central committee while the central committee will elect politburo, standing committee and office-bearers. Election of politburo, standing committee and office-bearers will take place based on the inclusive principle. The 50 percent proportional category ensures Dalit, Muslim, Tharu, Madheshi, indigenous communities, Khas Arya, people with disabilities, backward communities, women and youth's representation.

In central committee, 35 percent participation of women, 20 percent participation of youth below 40 years is ensured in all clusters and open category.
