Election of Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) is underway. According to the program published by the Election Committee, voting will be held for two days, Friday and Saturday.
Nima Nuru Sherpa and Rajendra Mann Shrestha have been nominated for the leadership of the association. Elections are also being held for other office bearers and members of the association with numbers of climbers giving their candidacies in the election.
Although the annual general meeting was supposed to be held before the election of the NMA, the general meeting was adjourned after the disgruntled members filed a case in the court to stop the general meeting.
NMA, the only alpine club in Nepal, has been providing various training to the climbers in Nepal as well as giving permission to climb mountains.
The NMA had held an election in 2017.
