Nepali Boxer Sushma Tamang won the silver medal in the ASBC Asian U 22 Boxing Championship being held in Bangkok, Thailand.
In today's final match, Nepal's Sushma Tamang was defeated by Uzbekistan's Fozilov Farzona in the women's 48 kg category. Although She had to settle for the silver medal, that medal is said to be the biggest medal in Nepali boxing history so far.
This is the first time that Nepal has won silver in the recognized competition of the Asian Boxing Confederation.
Sushma Tamang reached the final by defeating Vietnam's Pham Thi Kinhan in the quarterfinals and Mongolia's Baisenbai Janarguli in the semifinals.
Three other boxers from Nepal also won bronze medals. In them Huma Rai, Trisha Jagebu, and Vijay Bata.
