Congress' Lopchan wins as Bagmati village chairman

Nepali Congress candidate Bir Bahadur Lopchan and CPN (Maoist Center) candidate Bhakta Bahadur Darlami have been elected as the chairman and vice-chairman respectively of Bagmati village municipality.

Lopchan got 4,909 votes while his nearest rival Nawaraj Sanjel of the CPN (UML) got 4,053 votes. Bhakta Bahadur Darlami of the UCPN (Maoist) won the election with 4,692 votes. CPN-UML's Namuna Dong has garnered 3,700 votes.

Out of the seven wards of the municipality, Congress has been elected in five wards, UML in one ward and UCPN (M) in one ward. Gyan Bahadur Lo was elected from ward no. 1, Ram Bahadur Bhulun in ward no. 2, Nawaraj Khadka in ward no. 3, Ram Kumar Lama in ward no. 4 and Narayan Bhomjan in ward no. 6. Namaraj Timalsina of UCPN (Maoist) has been elected in Ward No. 5 and Hom Prasad Bajagain of UML has been elected in Ward No. 7.
