Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' inaugurated the National Yoga Day function organized by the National Yoga Day Main Program Committee, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology at the Sanothimi Bhaktapur-based Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) today.
Stating that not only in Nepal, but people across the globe are also at present attracted to yoga, meditation, and yoga practices, he reiterated the need of taking yoga and meditation as a way of spiritual thought and practice.
PM Dahal said the government will fulfill its role in the teaching and learning of yoga education from the school level itself, adding that the study of yoga education was needed from the school level itself for the people's physical and mental well-being.
"I will take initiation for pursuing yoga education on a priority basis at the school and university level. The country's new identity could be established if we could provide yoga instructors throughout the world from Nepal," he asserted.
Describing yoga and meditation as the bedrock of Eastern philosophy, the Prime Minister said, "We feel proud to say that it is the heritage of Nepal."
National Yoga Day is marked on Makar Sankranti every year.
