VP says no option to work as per public aspirations

Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun has said that the Singhadurbar-centric power and services have reached the province and local levels, thanks to the struggle waged consciously by the citizens for the cause of the nation’s political and social transformation. Vice President Pun has called for all to unite for the institutionalization of those achievements.

Addressing a program organized in Janakpur by the Madhesi Martyr Foundation on the occasion of the People’s War Day on Monday, the Vice President said that it was everyone's responsibility to protect the republic, federalism, secularism, proportional inclusion along with social justice that was achieved from the revolution and movements.

Pun added that review could be done on whether or not the objectives of the People’s Movement, Madhes Movement, and different other movements but there was no option than to work as per the people’s aspirations by institutionalizing the achievements obtained so far.

“There is a separate part of review whether the entire objectives of the revolution and movement were met. But, the true thing is that republic was established from that revolution and movements. So, I urge all to take pride in those achievements,” the Vice-President said.

He also thanked for the role played by the Madhes Government to institutionalize the contributions made by the People’s War and its decision to mark the People’s War Day.

The Vice President was of the view that the Federal Government also offered its tribute to the highest level of contribution made by the People’s War in Nepali politics by giving a public holiday on this day.

Also speaking at the event, Chief of Madhes Province Hari Shankar Mishra said that it would be true tributes to the martyrs if we performed to translate the dreams and aspirations of the martyrs.

Likewise, Speaker of Madhesh Province Assembly Ram Chandra Mandal compared the People’s War to a social revolution and urged them to work for the fulfillment of the dreams of the People’s War.

Similarly, Chief Minister of Madhes Province Saroj Kumar Yadav said that the contributions of martyrs, their families, and injured ones could not be discarded as the current transformation in the country was the result of the People’s War and the Madhes movement.

Chair of the Foundation and Minister for Home and Information of Madhes Province Shatrudhan Prasad Singh said the wounds of the martyrs and conflict-hit should be healed since the People’s War made significant contributions to dismantling the unitary regime.

He also pledged to ensure more facilities, employment, and relief to the families of the martyrs and conflict-hit.

On the occasion, Minister for Industry, Tourism, and Forest Sunita Yadav, who is also the daughter of martyr Ram Briksha Yadav, CPN (Maoist Centre) leader Bharat Prasad Shah, Minister for Education, Science and Technology Mahesh Prasad Yadav, and others said that the martyrs should be honored by recognizing them as the nation’s treasure adding that the changes that we have are the result of the bloodshed of the martyrs.

On the occasion, relief was announced to some 540 martyrs’ families.
