Two rhino calves reared by the Chitwan National Park (CNP) have been released into the wild in the park.

The calves kept at the National Trust for Nature Conservation, Sauraha have been held and transported on a truck before releasing them into the Tamital area, said the park's vet Dr Bijaya Shrestha. No dart was used in capturing them, he said.

The calves named Pushpa and Anjali were rescued from the Nawalparasi area of the park after they were separated from their mothers, he said.

According to him, Pushpa was rescued in January 2020 from Tamasapur, and Anjali in April 2021 from Kujauli. They were around two months old when they were rescued. Now, they can eat fodder by themselves, he said.
