Two girls died after being drowned in a local pond at Kanchanrup Municipality-5 in Saptari district on Tuesday, said the police.
The deceased have been identified as Rajani, 13-year-old daughter of local Sukadev Sada and Sendri, 14-year-old daughter of Jitan Sada. The adolescents drowned while swimming in a pond belonging to the local Dipak Chaudhary.
The two along with six other friends had stepped into a pond to take a bath to avoid excessive heat, they said. During a search, Sendri was found floating and Rajani died at a primary health centre in Kanchanpur, said the police.
