According to the latest vote count of the Birgunj Metropolitan City of Parsa, Rajeshman Singh, the candidate of the alliance for the post of mayor has continued his lead with 1,363 votes.
In his closest contest, Vijay Kumar Sarawgi of the CPN (UML) polled 659 votes. Counting of votes in wards 1, 2, 31 and 32 is underway. So far, a total of 3,067 votes have been counted. It has been said that it will take time for the final result to come as it will take a long time to cast the vote.
There are three other municipalities and 10 village municipalities, including Birgunj, the only metropolis in Madhes. Counting of votes is also underway in other municipalities of the district.
A total of 3,297 candidates are contesting in all the 14 municipalities of the district. There were 339,836 voters in the district.
