Due to the problem of drainage in the urban areas of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, the Department of Water Supply and Sewerage Management is going to work on the construction of sewerage with an investment of more than two billion rupees. Along with this, the work of water management, waste management, and sewage management is going to be done.

The Department's Integrated Water Supply and Sanitation Project is working on a detailed study report for the work. There are preparations for sewage management in 12 cities of the country. Among them, five cities have been placed in the first phase. Ratnaprasad Lamichhane, the project director of the department, informed that among them, the work of Bharatpur Metropolitan City has rapidly progressed.

According to him, the goal is to complete the detailed study report and call for bids by next June. He said, "We have advanced the work to call for tenders by next June. Even if it is late, the bidding will be done by this time next year." The goal is to complete the work within two to three years.

This project is being started in the first phase in Bharatpur-1 to 12 wards. Even among those wards, in the urban areas, since rainwater cannot be managed, the roads get flooded after heavy rains. Even though many roads have been paved, the water management of the sky has become a complex problem due to the lack of sewers. According to him, rainwater management is the main task. It will be managed in such a way that water does not freeze through drainage. Preparations have been made to process the waste taken out from the toilet and use it as fertilizer in the Pani River. Similarly, he said that the water flowing into the sewers will be processed without mixing directly in the river.

Water will be supplied to the places where there is no water supply, while the water level will be upgraded in the places where it is. It is going to work with the financial support of the Asian Development Bank. According to him, plans ranging from 1.5 billion to 2 billion rupees have been fixed in major cities, but it is estimated that more than 2 billion rupees will be planned because there is a lot of work to be done in the main urban area of Bharatpur.

Metropolitan Municipality Chief Renu Dahal informed that the first phase of the work is being done after continuous requests to the federal government as the problem of rainwater freezing in urban areas has become complicated and costly. He said, "Even if there is still one or two years of suffering, work is being done to solve it forever." He says that this plan will be important to make a beautiful city, mainly in urban areas, to end the necessity of flooding and mixing sewage directly into the river.
