The sacrifice of 54 goats and 54 calves took place at Dashain house of Hanumandhoka Durbar. On the day of Ashwin Shukla Purnima (Kojagrat Purnima) all the sacrifices are completed as Badadashain, the process of offering Tika and Jamara as offerings of Durga from the devotees also ends.
Nine of the goats were sacrificed in the Dashain house, said Sandeep Khanal, chief of the Hanumandhoka Durbar Care Center.
The remaining goats and 54 calves were sacrificed at the main square of Hanumandhoka Durbar. As soon as all the sacrifices have been completed, the deposit kept in the house on the day of Ghatsthapana has been sealed. Similarly, the followers of Vedic Sanatan Hindu religion have taken the Jamara placed in the house of worship and in the house on the day of Ghatsthapana on October 15 to the nearby lakes, ponds or shrines.
Tonight, after worshiping Goddess Mahalaxhmi of Dhan Dhanya and staying awak, the 15-day long Durga Paksha concludes.Today, there is a religious belief that goddess Laxmi resides in the house of those who stay awake and worships her.
