Chief Election Officer of Makwanpur and District Judge Dilliratna Shrestha informed about the role to be followed in the election code of conduct at a meeting of the office heads organized by the District Administration Office, Makwanpur, today.
Chief Election Officer Shrestha stressed on the need for the civil servants not to campaign for any political party and to show neutrality without participating in various programs. He said, "In a democracy, everyone has their own opinion, but while fulfilling the role of an employee, the election code of conduct must be followed."
Chief District Officer of Makwanpur Bharatmani Pandey said that it was the common responsibility of all to make the local level election fair and stressed on the need to make the local level election encouraging.
Chief of the Provincial Election Office, Bagmati, Lumbnath Pokharel said that preparations for the local elections were in full swing.
The meeting was attended by civil servants, the Nepal Army, the Nepal Police, the Armed Police, the office heads and the representatives of various organizations.
Makwanpur, which has ten local levels, has a total electorate of 295,550. Compared to the past, 39,946 voters have been added to the district this time, according to the Election Office. Of them, 12,495 in Indrasarovar Municipality, 14,620 in Kailash Municipality, 32,316 in Thaha Municipality, 30,013 in Bakaiya Municipality, 22,090 in Bagmati Municipality, 17,490 in Bhimphedi Municipality, 19,150 in Makwanpurgadhi Municipality, 26,751 in Manahari Municipality and Raksirang.
In the local level election of 2017, there were 227,700 voters in Makwanpur. One polling station in Makwanpur will be shifted and another will be added for the upcoming local level election. According to the Election Office, the polling station of Hetauda Sub-metropolis-4 has been shifted to Hetauda Sub-metropolis-4 Bhutan Devi High School.
It is learned that the polling station has been shifted as a new building is being constructed by demolishing the Vasudev Assembly Hall at Huprachaur in Hetauda. Similarly, it has been decided to add a polling station in Manahari village municipality. It is said that polling stations will be added in Manahari-6. There are currently 165 polling stations in Makwanpur.
