Relief rendered to wildlife survivors

Farmers in Myagdi who bore the loss of livestock in wildlife attacks have received a relief amount of Rs 460,000.

The Division Forest Office Myagdi informed that it had distributed relief amounts to the victims in the fiscal year 2021/22.

Acting Divisional Forest Officer Manoj Ranabhat shared that the relief amount was distributed to 50 households who had to bear the loss of their livestock in the incidents of leopard attacks.

"As per the work procedure set out by the province government, relief amount was distributed to the farmers for the loss of 37 goats including castrated goats, seven kids and six pigs", he said.

As informed, farmers of Mangala rural municipality were the hardest hit in the series of leopard attacks.

A public awareness-raising workshop was also organized to discuss the measures to reduce human-wildlife conflict. Small ponds have also been constructed in 10 community forests to facilitate water consumption for wildlife, shared Assistant Forest Officer Nar Bahadur Kshetry.
