Rastriya Janamorcha’s Krishna Thapa has lost his post as a lawmaker of the National Assembly of Gandaki Province.

The Supreme Court today has cancelled the interim order that was issued on June 6 by a single bench of Justice Kumar Chudal stating that until and unless the writ filed by Thapa has been finalised he should be reinstated in the National Assembly.

Thapa had filed a writ at the Supreme Court on June 4 after he lost his seat at the National Assembly of Gandaki Province. His petition stated that he had not renounced his party membership and not gone against the party whip.

A joint bench of Justices Biswambhar Shrestha and Kumar Regmi cancelled the interim order today.

The central office of Rastriya Janamorcha, Secretariat of the National Assembly of Gandaki Province and the speaker of the assembly had registered separate vacate requests against the interim order. While hearing the vacate pleas the joint bench of Justices Shrestha and Regmi issued a final order cancelling the interim order that was issued earlier.

After Rastriya Janamorcha forwarded a letter to the secretariat of the National Assembly informing about Thapa being expelled from the party, Speaker of the Gandaki National Assembly informed the house on June 3 about Thapa being expelled from the party. Consequently, Thapa lost his seat in the assembly.

Rastriya Janamorcha had taken a decision to support the opposition party in the government in the provincial assembly but Thapa had issued a public statement mentioning that he would not support the government.
