Probe committees formed to investigate into Teku, Sankhuwasabha incidents

The government has formed a probe committee to investigate the incident of police force used in a sit-in protest staged at Police Range, Teku, on July 31 regarding the statement given by an advocate.

Spokesperson at the Home Ministry, Joint Secretary Narayan Prasad Bhattarai shared that the five-member probe committee was formed under coordination of Under-Secretary at the Ministry, Ram Bahadur Shahi, on Wednesday.

The probe committee was asked to submit its report within 10 days after carrying out investigation into the incident. Representatives of the District Administration Office, Kathmandu, Kathmandu Valley Police Office and National Investigation Department are the members of the committee.

Similarly, another five-member probe committee was also formed to investigate the death of two inmates in Sankhuwasabha jail—Binod Tolangi and Akash Balami aka Bikas Shrestha today itself, added Bhattarai.

They died following the scuffle between inmates in the prison on Wednesday.

The probe committee was formed under coordination of Director at the Department of Prison Management, Kamal Prasad Pandey where representatives of Nepal Police, National Investigation Department and District Administration Office, sankhuwasabha, are the members.
