President, Prime Minister message to the nation on Republic Day

President Bidya Devi Bhandari wished happiness, peace and prosperity to all Nepalis on the occasion of the 15th Republic Day of Nepal.

In her message, President Bhandari said that Republic Day would encourage all to move on the path of achieving prosperity along with social justice by further strengthening national unity.

The press release reads, "I extend best wishes with an expectation that this historical day will encourage all to move ahead towards the path of social justice by further strengthening the country's territorial integrity, national sovereignty and unity." President Bhandari said that it was the responsibility of the republic to take forward Nepal as a developed nation with a strong and self-dependent economy by bringing meaningful and positive change in the people's life.

In her message, President Bhandari further stated that she was confident that the Republic Day would further inspire all to build a socialist-oriented economic system by implementing the fundamental rights enshrined in the constitution —education, health, food security, drinking water, environment protection in practice." Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba addressing the nation said the common goal of all Nepalis is to advance the country on the path of development and prosperity in a short span of time by fully ensuring people’s rights through the means of the democratic-republican system.

Extending best wishes to all on the occasion of the 15th Republic Day of Nepal today, PM Deuba urged all political parties, intellectuals, civil society leaders, the business community, the media and the general public to be united for the country’s development and prosperity.

In his message, he recalled different political movements, civilian struggles and sacrifices taking place in the country resulting in the democratic-republican form of governance.

The PM also expressed condolences to all known and unknown martyrs for their sacrifices in the movements waged to establish the democratic republic in the country. Likewise, he expressed high respect to all seniors and participants of the movement and wished for a speedy recovery for those injured ones who are still receiving treatment.

“We are active in a journey to materialise the aspiration for lasting peace, good governance, development and prosperity through the federal democratic republic form of governance,” according to the PM.
