Power generation affected due to floods

Power production plants across the country have been affected due to floods triggered by incessant rainfall. As a result, power supply has been interrupted in some places.

According to the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), power plants that produce about 640 megawatts of electricity have been shut down due to floods.

Upper Tamakoshi, operated by Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Limited, a subsidiary company of the NEA, with a capacity of 456 megawatts, has been closed since Friday evening due to flooding.

Similarly, Sunkoshi hydropower project with 60 MW capacity and 10 MW capacity Upper Trishuli 'A' has also been closed.

According to the information provided by the NEA load dispatch center, Balefi with a capacity of 36 MW, Lower Modi with a capacity of 20 MW, middle Modi with a capacity of 18 MW, and Upper Chamelia with a capacity of 40 MW have also been closed due to floods.

Furthermore, some projects are running at low capacity.
