A writ petition against the dissolution of the Land-related Problem Solving Commission has been filed in the Supreme Court. The meeting of the Council of Ministers on August 3 decided to dissolve the commission.
The petition registered by advocate Prabesh KC demands that the government's decision to dissolve the Commission be revoked.
The Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers, Prime Minister and the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation are named as the defendants in the petition. "The decision of the Cabinet, the Government of Nepal to scrap the Commission as per Article 133 (2) and (4) of the Constitution of Nepal should be annulled through a certiorari order and it is asked to issue a mandamus order asking for the Commission to function as per laws," reads the petition.
The KP Sharma Oli government had formed the Commission on April 14, 2020, with the aim to manage the accommodation of Dalits and landless squatters.
