The Delegated Legislation and Government Assurances Committee under the National Assembly have directed the government to be serious on the issue of a delay in allowing the Nepali people aspiring to go to South Korea for jobs and make necessary arrangements to this effect.

The Committee's meeting today held discussions in this regard with the respective ministry and sector and victims and asked the government to make necessary arrangements to send the aspiring Nepalis who have passed the Korean language test to go to South Korea for jobs in an easy and fast way while concluding that they should not get stuck reasoning only COVID-19.

On the occasion, the Committee President Ram Narayan Bidari said that they had received many complaints about a delay in allowing the aspiring Nepali workers to head to South Korea for jobs.

The East Asian country is agreed to receive Nepali workers after their transportation there should be made through direct flights between Nepal and South Korea. Beforehand, the workers should be ensured against COVID-19 and they must stay in a quarantine facility upon reaching there.

However, the second wave of the infection caused the delay, said a government official.

The process to send the workers through a direct flight on a Korean aircraft has started as the Nepal Airlines Corporation, the flag carrier of Nepal, has not been allowed, said Surya Prasad Gautam, secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security.

Similarly, the Committee members Radhe Shyam Adhikari and Dr Khim Lal Devkota demanded that the concerned authorities including the Nepali Embassy in South Korea should take initiatives to this effect.
