One accused arrested from Tribhuvan International Airport

Police arrested one accused from Tribhuvan International Airport. Santosh Kumar Lamichhane of Dhangadhi, Kailali, who was about to fly to Mumbai, India by flight no. 401 of Nepal Airlines Corporation (Nepal Airlines), has been arrested, police said.

Lamichhane was arrested at the airport based on information that he was involved in suspicious activities, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Tek Prasad Rai, spokesperson of the Nepal Police, informed RASS. He said, "The information that the person is going to run away was reported to the police headquarters from Kailali police. The accused was arrested after boarding the plane from the airport. He has been taken into custody from the airport and is currently being kept at Gaushala police station. Preparations are being made to send him to Kailali for further investigation.

The team of the Special Bureau of the Police Headquarters arrested the accused from the airport. He was arrested when he was about to go to Mumbai with his wife. The Bureau's team coordinated with the Airport Security Police Office and Nepal Airlines and arrested the accused after stopping the flight. It is alleged that the accused Lamichhane involved in the gold and silver business was involved in the theft. The police said that he was taken into custody when the police got the information that he was going to run away while the investigation was going on. There were 141 passengers on the plane including crew members.

According to the General Manager of Tribhuvan International Airport, Premnath Thakur, the accused Lamichhane, who was about to fly to Mumbai at 1:10 in the afternoon, was detained by the police. The plane of Nepal Airlines flew to Mumbai two hours later i.e. at 3:10 PM. General Manager Thakur said that only the plane that was about to take off was delayed and there was no disruption to other flights. He also informed that all the flights of the airport are operating regularly.
