Nutritious food gift to pregnant woman

In Beni-1 Ratnechaur, nutritious food has been given to pregnant women. The mothers' group has been giving nutritious food gifts to encourage regular pregnancy test, safe delivery to health facilities, reduction of malnutrition and improvement in maternal and child health.

Health mothers' groups are active in nine wards of the former Ratnechaur VDC. Asmita Bogati, a member of Sangam Ama Samuha, informed that the pregnant women were given nutritious food worth Rs. 500 in the meeting held on the 3rd of every month. "Eggs, nuts and hygiene items have been given as gifts after receiving information that she is pregnant," he said. ”

Devi Thapa Magar of Ratnechaur Upallachaur said that the knowledge gained by participating in the group meeting has made it easier for the daughter-in-law to take care of her when she is pregnant and in labor. His daughter-in-law Kamala had given birth two months ago. Sita Thapa of Uppalachaur, Ratnechaur, who regularly attends mothers' group meetings, gave birth two months ago. Thapa said that the support given by the mothers' group encouraged them during pregnancy, increased their self-confidence and the knowledge they learned was useful for the child and their health.

The people's representative of Ratnechaur has also allocated budget for nutrition promotion and awareness raising as per the demand of the mothers' group. Tek Bahadur Rawal, Ward Chairman of Ratnechaur, said that the mother group's activism and nutrition program has been effective in improving the health condition of children and mothers and reducing malnutrition. He informed that a budget of Rs. One lakh has been allocated in the current Fiscal Year for the promotion of health volunteers and improvement of nutrition. The budget was allocated in the same proportion last year as well. From the budget, the capacity of women health volunteers has been developed and pregnant women of the ward have been provided with nutritious and hygienic items by the people's representatives, said ward chairperson Rawal.
