Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the central bank of the country, has started homework to introduce the Monetary Policy for next fiscal year 2078/79. Discussions are being held at the central bank on the policies that need to be included in the Monetary Policy to provide momentum to the economy that has been battered by the impact of the coronavirus.
This will be the second Monetary Policy to be introduced under NRB Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari. The central bank has given hints that the Monetary Policy this year will be different from the one announced in the last fiscal year.
Meanwhile, Governor Adhikari has said that discussions will be held with concerned stakeholders separately regarding the Monetary Policy. Previously, the trend was to call all concerned stakeholders to a single meeting and take suggestions there itself. However, since this practice has not proven to be effective this year discussions will be held separately with various stakeholders.
The Monetary Policy will be introduced only after the start of the next fiscal year.
