Senior rice expert Bholaman Singh Basnet passed away today at the age of 71. He was being treated for COVID-19 infection at the Om Hospital and Research Center.
Basnet who had long served at the Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC) as the senior rice expert was associated with the International Rice Research Institute after his retirement from the NARC. He had a significant contribution to the decision to celebrate National Paddy Day on the 15th of Asar in Nepali month.
He is survived by his two daughters and a spouse.
