No immediate plan for lockdown: Minister Tripathi

Minister for Health and Population Hridayesh Tripathi has made it clear that the government has no plan to immediately enforce lockdown despite spike in the number of COVID-19 infection.

At a meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR)’s Education and Health Committee held today, Minster Tripathi said that the government has been in ready position for the prevention of coronavirus, which is increasing of late.

He said that the health safety protocol would be enforced in a strict manner. “The government is fully aware of the increasing risk of coronavirus and public health safety measures would be stringently enforced to check its rise”.

The minister further said that it was equally important to sustain the livelihood of the people. “The government would implement the report presented by the subcommittee under the committee”, he shared that there is a plan to put tough regulatory measures along the border areas.

It may be noted that the committee had formed a subcommittee noting that the government need to adopt necessary precautionary measure in the context coronavirus wave has increased in neighbouring country of late.

Subcommittee Coordinator Jeevan Ram Shrestha had submitted a report to the Committee President Jayapuri Gharti on March 24. The subcommittee had recommended the construction of well-appointed structures in all province and center for the prevention and control taking into consideration the possible outbreak of coronavirus pandemic in future.

The subcommittee also recommended providing the citizens the vaccination service against the coronavirus in an easy, effective and prompt manner.
