As the fertility rate of Nepali women is declining, the population growth rate is not expected to increase. According to the census that concluded on Thursday, Nepali women are giving birth to two children as per the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS). This was preliminarily analyzed in the census that was held from November 11 to 25.
According to the 2068 census average of 2.1 children were to be born from one woman in the latest census. The 2021 census saw an average of 2 children born, said Director-General of CBS, Nabin Lal Shrestha. According to him, the fertility rate has been found to be higher than the average in Province No 2, Karnali, and Far West and lower than the average in Bagmati. On average, 1.4 children are born from one woman in Bagmati Province.
With this, Nepal's population is assumed between 28-30 million, informed Shrestha. The preliminary result of the 2021 census will be received within three months. It will take two years for the full results to come of the 2021 census.
