Experts have said that government efforts and local communities play a major role in the increase in the number of tigers in Nepal. The efforts made by the government to save the forest and the active participation of the community in this work are considered important.

In the NepalNews studio, Dr. Maheshwar Dhakal, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Forests and Environment, informed that after the number of tigers in Nepal has reached 355, the international community has highly appreciated the efforts being made to protect the forests and wild animals in Nepal.

The results of the fourth national tiger census announced on the occasion of International Tiger Day show that the number of tigers in Nepal has increased satisfactorily.

After the number of tigers reached 355, Nepal's resolution to double the number by 2022 has also been fulfilled. In 2010, the countries where tigers are found, including Nepal, resolved to double the number of tigers in St. Petersburg, Russia.

The highest number of 128 tigers in Nepal is found in Chitwan National Park.

There were 121 tigers in Nepal in 2010, 198 in 2013, and 235 in 2018.

Joint Secretary Dr. Dhakal has emphasized that sometimes wild animals such as tigers are killed and their parts are used for different purposes.
