MPs demand end to violence against women

Members of the National Assembly have called on the government to take stern action against those involved in violence, murder and rape of women across the country.

During the zero hour of today's meeting of the National Assembly, MP Jayanti Devi Rai condemned the incident of burning alive a woman in Darchula and demanded action against the culprits. He said, "How long should a woman lose her life in the name of violence? Why can't the government take action against the person involved in such incidents?"

MP Nara Bahadur Bista demanded action against the person who broadcasted obscene videos about violence against women on social media.

MP Udy Bahadur Bohara drew attention to the smuggling of timber in Salyan and stressed on the need to take action against those operating crushers and excavating rivers against the standards. MP Gopal Kumar Basnet said, "Will action be taken against the contractor who starts the contract process but leaves the contract unfinished?"

MP Tul Prasad Bishwakarma objected that the recent incidents of caste discrimination and untouchability in Nawalparasi-East have been forcibly reconciled. MP Durga Gurung said that the farmers of Surkhet have not been able to get manure till now.

MP Narandatta Mishra called on the government to address the shortage of chemical fertilizers. MPs Bhuvan Bahadur Sunar, Madan Kumari Shah (Garima) and Yuvaraj Sharma drew the government's attention to the current affairs of the country.
