A person died last night after being hit by a truck at Ramchowk in Birtamod Municipality-2 of Jhapa. The deceased has been identified as 29-year-old Samyam Bajgai of Birtamod-2, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Basanta Pathak.
The truck (No. 6 Kha 6455) coming from west to east on East-West Highway hit a motorcycle (Ba 15 Pa 8202) heading in the opposite direction. Bajgai was seriously injured in the accident. He was treated at B&C Hospital in Birtamod.
The motorcycle and truck are under the control of the Area Police Office, Anarmani, while the truck driver is absconding, police said.
