The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Wednesday confirmed the detection of 2,401 new cases of coronavirus infection. With this, the COVID count has reached 970,462. Additionally, 550 persons have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in the antigen test.
Likewise, the MoHP has recorded 14 deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. The ministry on May 19 recorded 184 deaths, the highest daily number. As of Wednesday, the nationwide death toll from COVID-19 has reached 11,852. Presently, there are 30,241 active cases in Nepal.
Meanwhile, the three districts of Kathmandu valley alone have recorded 1070 cases in the past 24 hours. Kathmandu logged 890 cases, Lalitpur logged 102 cases and Bhaktapur logged 25 cases, as per the data released by the MoHP.
As many as 7,777 patients of COVID-19 have recovered in the past 24 hours. As of Wednesday, a total of 928,369 people have recovered from the viral disease, the data released by the MoHP showed. Presently, the recovery rate stands at 95.7 per cent while the fatality rate is 1.3 per cent.
Earlier, the MoHP on Tuesday confirmed the detection of 1,957 new cases of coronavirus infection.
As of Wednesday, a total of 5,303,562 people have undergone the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test. Presently, there are 30,241 people staying in isolation while 133 others have been placed in quarantine in the country.
