The flood in the Melamchi River in the western region of Sidhupalchowk district has wreaked havoc in the adjoining areas. The flood has also damaged the Melamchi Corridor.
Along with a huge number of properties being destroyed, around 12 locals have also gone missing due to the flood in the Melamchi River. The flood has also damaged numerous suspension bridges and motorable bridges.
Till now, seven deaths due to the flood have been confirmed. The flood has submerged the local market, local security offices and also the army barracks located in the area. Half a dozen fish farm and agricultural farms have also been washed away due to the flood.
Due to the heavy rains since Tuesday afternoon the water level in the Melamchi River rose significantly causing the flood.
