The Federation Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has decided to protest for the rights of working journalists.

The FNJ on Friday held an interaction at its office, focusing primarily on the wage issues facing journalists.

On the occasion, it was shared that the FNJ would be launching a protest for the rights of journalists when various media houses were failing to pay even minimum wages to working journalists and employees and some had already started laying off journalists for no cause at all.

FNJ senior vice chair Ramesh Bista said the FNJ had scheduled a demonstration at the Labour Office from August 11 and a picketingprogramme, targeting those media houses not implementing the past agreement and underpaying journalists on August 18. The FNJ has informed it would zero-in on talks, dialogues, legal procedures and picketing programmes for the rights of working journalists.

FNJ general secretary Roshan Puri opined the FNJ was always there for the cause of working journalists.

During the discussion, journalists complained of non-payment, underpayment and forced layoffs without any valid reasons.
