A leopard inhabiting the nearby community forest strayed into the human settlement and killed 23 goats in Gulariya Municipality-5, Bardiya district.
The goats worth approximately Rs 300,000 were killed by the big cat, said the police. The leopard killed the goats at night that were kept at a Brish livestock farm belonging to a farmer Chandra Kanta Poudel, said the local people.
Shortly, a police team deployed from the Bardiya District Police Office reached the incident site and took stock of the preliminary loss, said Inspector Gopal Poudel, adding that details of the exact loss will be calculated.
