Especially in Eastern Nepal, the Udhauli festival is celebrated with religious ceremonies for two weeks with various programs. The nature-worshiping indigenous Limbu people have adopted an agro-based lifestyle and the time of harvest is called Chasok Tangnam with the change of seasons.

Experts say that it is also called Nawagi Utsav. According to the Limbu culture, Chasok Tangnam is believed to have started after Samva and Sinhafedangba worshiped Nawagi.

At this time, the Kirat community is celebrating the Udhauli festival. This festival celebrated by nature worshiping Kirats is also a time-indicator. The ancestors of agriculture and animal husbandry have started celebrating this festival in harmony with nature. The Sunuwar, Rai, Limbu and Yakha tribes celebrate this festival.

The Udhauli festival, which is believed to have started from the wild and hunter-gatherer era, is being celebrated with pomp and circumstance this year as well. This festival started from Khotang district and is celebrated in different parts of the country especially by Kirats. Since our country is secular now many non kirati people also take part in the celebration of Udhauli.
