Japanese grant of Rs 2.6 billion approved in Biratnagar

The government has decided to approve the grant assistance worth over Rs 2.6 billion pledged by the Government of Japan for improvement of drinking water in Biratnagar Metropolitan City in Morang district.

Unveiling the decision of the cabinet meeting convened on January 24, Minister for Communication and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki today shared that the meeting also decided to permit handing the public land for Agriculture and Forestry University on lease.

Among the decisions of the meeting are issuing permit to Nepal Electricity Authority to procure land for expansion of transmission lines and construction of sub-stations, informed Minister Karki.

Approval will be issued in principle for review of organization and management survey. The meeting also approved the Nepal Army’s First Rifle Battalion in Bhojpur district to acquire over a large amount of land towards north and east of the barracks. The land was owned by the locals, he said.

Likewise, the meeting granted permission for setting up integrated garbage management plant in Kanchanpur and Kailali districts and to use forest areas in Shuklaphanta municipality and Godawari Municipality for the same.

According to him, the government decided to get rid of old postal stamps that were published over various periods but were not brought into use. Complying with the rules and laws, such postal stationery materials would be destroyed, Minister Karki said.

The meeting decided to approve temporary vacancy for the Health Insurance Board and to appoint and install the Gazetted Second Class officers in the Gazetted First Class Joint-Secretary posts of the related Service Group, on the recommendation of the Public Service Commission.
