In a writ petition filed at the Supreme Court (SC) demanding to revoke the membership of 14 UML lawmakers, the SC has fixed the next date for the hearing for Tuesday.
The hearing of the case has been set for tomorrow as the hearing did not conclude today in the division bench of Justices Dipak Kumar Karki and Kumar Chudal.
CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli had lodged the petition naming 14 parliamentarians recommended for action from the party, Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota, Election Commission of Nepal, and Speaker of Lumbini Province Purna Gharti as the defendants.
Earlier, the SC had sought the Election Commission’s written response within 15 days on whether the registration process of the CPN (Unified Socialist) was in line with due processes.
On behalf of UML Chairman Oli, Sumitra Pandey had lodged three separate cases against Speaker Sapkota, Election Commission, and Lumbini Province Speaker Gharti on September 1.
The petitioner has demanded that a mandamus order be issued to implement the party’s decision in regard to the action taken against 14 UML HoR members.
