Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba said accessible and quality health service was the backbone of development.

He highlighted the need of making the health service further well-managed, accessible, and easy with the pace of time.

The country's socioeconomic development was possible only from the citizens with sound health and well-being, the Prime Minister said, informing that the government has placed special emphasis on the interconnected agenda of health, education, and human rights.

In his address to the 11th assembly of the Patan Academy of Health Sciences, PM Deuba further said, "Nepal Constitution has enshrined health as a fundamental right guaranteeing delivery of primary health service in a free and easy manner. All health facilities should work to translate such arrangements into actions".

He also asked the health facilities to provide specialized services in the health sector.

Lauding the Academy's achievements, PM Deuba thanked the Academy for its plan to expand its services not limited to the Kathmandu Valley.

He appreciated the Academy's contributions to expanding health services as per the demand and need of the citizens.

Only with the rise in the number of health academics in the country, the research and education as well as smooth delivery of quality health service were challenging, PM Deuba said, underlining that health institutes should pay their attention consistently to provide quality education, research and health service delivery without making any compromise.

Also, the chancellor of the Patan Academy of Health Sciences, Prime Minister Deuba shared health sector was a dynamic sector where new research was conducted and new treatment methods, technologies, and medicines were invented every day, pointing out the need of adjusting and adapting them in the health system.

He emphasized expanding health services to rural areas by producing capable and skilled doctors, nurses, and other health workers.

Saying health services being operated by the private sector were difficult for the general people to access due to expensive charges, the PM opined it was the responsibility of the state to arrange easy, smooth, and quality services by enhancing the quality of government and community-level health centers and hospitals.
