Prime Minister and President of the Nepali Congress, Sher Bahadur Deuba, has said that it is the duty of the government to provide basic services to the people effectively and urged all to work for it. He made the remarks while instructing all the Ministers and Secretaries of the Government of Nepal regarding the implementation of the common programs of the government, development priorities, progress of five months of the current fiscal year, and promotion of good governance.

Stating that people's lives have been affected due to snow and cold wave with the onset of winter, he directed to provide necessary services to the people. He also urged the people not to allow any shortage of fertilizers and seeds in the agricultural country.

Giving instructions to work for the solution of the legal problems which are seen as obstacles in the development works and services to the people, Prime Minister Deuba said that all are aware to control corruption and expect everyone's cooperation to control it. He stressed the need to generate more hydropower and export it by attracting investors as the country has immense reserves of water resources.

Prime Minister Deuba said, "The country is in trouble in many ways now. COVID-19 has also brought big problems. The unseasonal rains and floods have caused a lot of damage. The opposition party has created another problem by not allowing the parliament to function. It has not been able to discuss important issues in the parliament. The number of things we have passed in the midst of the uproar in the parliament is not fair, but we have to do it.”

Stating that the problem of implementation in development works is an old issue, he directed to move ahead for a continuous solution through continuous discussions and consultations between the Ministry of Development and the Ministry of Finance. Stating that the expected progress has not been made in the project of national pride, he directed the concerned bodies to pay attention.

He said that the government had taken a very important decision during COVID-19 and added that the policy of distributing vaccines against it free of cost has been successful. Giving instructions to continue this with priority, he also thanked the countries and multilateral bodies for providing vaccination assistance.

"The most important thing is the life of the people. Saving everyone's life may still be a problem. Therefore, increase the number of vaccines by giving priority. No one should be deprived of the vaccine. I have also seen the need to create awareness among the people about vaccination, ”said Prime Minister Deuba.

He said that the three-tier election should be held in the near future and added that the government would extend all possible support to the commission. Emphasizing that everyone should work for a fair, credible election, he expressed confidence that the ruling coalition would continue to coordinate with each other in the election.

On the occasion, Finance Minister Janardan Sharma apprised about the recent statistics and condition of the country's economy and stressed the need for coordination among all ministries and agencies to make policy reforms, increase the capacity of institutional structures, end delays, and remove legal impediments to development.

Likewise, the Minister of State under the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Umesh Shrestha, said that the government has put forward many policies and institutional programs for good governance and development.

Dr Bishwanath Poudel, Vice-Chairman of the National Planning Commission, while briefing about the progress and challenges of the development projects, drew attention to the challenges to be added to the infrastructure development in the coming days due to the impact of climate change. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Secretary to the Government of Nepal, Shankar Das Bairagi, said that the government should move forward with trust, cooperation, and coordination as politics and administration are complementary to each other.

Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office Laxman Aryal made a presentation on the current year's development plan and program implementation arrangements. Ministers, secretaries, and heads of various bodies of the Government of Nepal were present on the occasion.
