A COVID-19 vaccine storage house is going to be constructed in Pokhara.
Chief Minister of Gandaki Province, Prithvi Subba Gurung laid the foundation stone for the facility going to be constructed at the premises of Gandaki Province Health Training Centre at Pokhara Metropolitan City-12 today.
The vaccine cold storage house is to be constructed at a cost of Rs 7.735 million (excluding VAT) of Federal Project Implementation Unit, Kaski. Director at the Provincial Health Management Centre, Khim Bahadur Khadka, said that KP Construction, Kathmandu, has got the responsibility to construct the vaccine storage house within April 30.
Vaccines available to four million people could be stored at the cold storage facility.
A plan has been set to use the storage house to store other vaccines once coronavirus pandemic comes to an end.
On the occasion, Chief Minister Gurung said that the state has invested a huge amount in the management of health structures, equipment and human resources after coronavirus pandemic.
He said that laying the foundation stone of the hospital at 396 local levels of the country at the same time by the state is a historic move.
