Six houses have been damaged in a fire that broke out at Lokharam Bhatottar in Chhinnamasta village municipality-5 of Saptari district this morning. The houses of Mahendra Kamait, Shankar Kamait, Shatrughan Kamait and Bharat Kamait have been completely damaged due to the fire.
Ward Chairman of Chhinnamasta Gaonpalika-5 Jay Prakash Thakur said that the houses of Bechan Kamait and Shanichar Kamait had to be demolished to save the villagers. According to him, the fire that burned from a cattle home was controlled by the locals.
Mahendra explained that the fire was lit after a burning sling to protect the cattle from mosquitoes. Four goats have died in flames.
According to the district police office in Saptri, the family lost Rs 23 million in the fire.
