The Election Commission (EC) has finalised the schedule for the mid-term elections that are to be held in two phases on November 12 and 19. The commission today made public the schedule for when candidates need to get registered and other details of the elections.
Candidates who will be participating in the first phase of the elections will have to register their candidacy on October 6-7. Candidates belonging to political parties who have representation at the federal, provincial or local levels of government need to file their candidacy on October 6. Similarly, candidates of other parties or independent candidates have to register their names on October 7.
Meanwhile, those who want to file their candidacy for the second phase of the mid-term election must register their names at the Election Commission on October 17-18. Candidates belonging to political parties who have representation at the federal, provincial or local levels of government need to file their candidacy on October 17. Similarly, candidates of other parties or independent candidates have to register their names on October 18.
The Election Commission has mentioned that the electoral period will start from July 15.
