Police arrested a man on the charge of killing an elderly man in Palhinandan Rural Municipality of Western Nawalparasi district.
The deceased has been identified as Shiwa Prasad Teli (70) of Rajawari in Palhinandan-6 and the arrestee as local resident Baliram Gupta (53).
The duo had fought each other in a dispute over cutting bamboo trees on Friday morning, police said and added that Teli was severely injured in the incident. Critically injured Teli was rushed to Butwal-based Lumbini City Hospital where he died during the course of treatment on Tuesday morning.
A joint team of security personnel deployed from the Western Nawalparasi District Police Office (DPO) and Sanai-based police post arrested Gupta on Tuesday morning after getting information about the incident.
Further investigation into the case is underway, informed DPO, Nawalparasi.
