Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Narayan Kaji Shrestha has directed the construction entrepreneurs to immediately begin the reconstruction jobs of the Kamala bridge along the postal highway in the bordering area of Dhanusha and Siraha districts.
In an onsite visit on Monday, Shrestha directed Lumbini Builders Construction to reconstruct the bridge, which is in a dilapidated condition. "The construction company should begin the works within two weeks," DPM Shrestha gave the deadline for the construction company.
Construction of the bridge is not completed yet even after 12 years have passed since the beginning of the construction.
The foundation stone of the bridge was laid in 2068 BS. The bridge crumbled following a flood in the Kamala river some 20 months ago when the bridge was under construction.
