Dipayal airport to be upgraded: Minister Ale

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale has said that the oldest airport in the far western region will be upgraded. He said that it was necessary to operate a 42-seat ship at Dipayal Airport to attract a significant number of tourists to the tourist area here.

He said, "I have allocated budget for the upgrade of Dipayal Airport, land acquisition and construction of the tower and terminal building.

Minister Ale, who is also the chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), had allocated Rs. 180 million a few months ago for upgrading Dipayal Airport, building construction and land acquisition. Minister Ale also informed that the budget for other development works including upgrading of the airport would be processed soon after the bidding process.

He said that the work of Achham, Bajura, Bajhang, Baitadi and Darchula airports including Dipayal would be started soon as the required budget has been allocated for the upgrade and construction of the new Dadeldhura airport. He said, "Airports in the hilly districts of the far-western region, which are closed, will now be able to operate regular flights. All airports are operated for the convenience of tourists and citizens."

Similarly, Minister Ale informed that an additional program is being started with the necessary budget allocation for making Geta Airport in Dhangadhi of Kailali a regional airport. Minister Ale had allocated Rs. 1 billion for the construction of the airport at the regional level, including land acquisition.
